De Klos

This was a return visit to Der Klos as Dutch friends had taken me there a few years ago. It had not changed! It was excellent then and still is now. I had the mixed spare ribs and shared a jacket potato. The only downside was that I couldn't finish the last rack! It does get busy and I was glad that I had gone early enough to get a table. The staff are very relaxed and friendly. Highly recommend.

I discovered this place on a visit 10-12 years ago and go at least once every trip. This is a meat lovers paradise. Huge slabs of high quality well prepared produce simply grilled. Spare ribs are something of a specialty and come smoked or regular. Mains are served with a salad and bread. There are a couple of starters but these are not needed. The only thing thats ever changed on the menu is the prices. High quality meat doesn't come cheap. Starting with the ribs at 16 euros through chicken, pork and veal to the t-bone steak at 37euros. The vegetarian option is to go somewhere else. Perhaps so much meat being on offer is the reason the clientele is mostly male. They always seem to have great staff too. Highly recommended.

I travel to Amsterdam frequently for buisness. This place has the best ribs and steaks in the world. Try either the smoked or the dry rub ribs, and your inner-beast will be unleashed after the 1st bite. Get there before 6pm local time or you'll be in line to get in. The place is small, seats about 30 patrons. The atmosphere cosists of a horseshoe bar that seats about 10 with small tables througout the rest of the place. You can watch the grillmaster in a small area in the back corner.
