De Carrousel

I'll start by saying I'm Flemish.... so my Bomma's (grandmothers) pancakes are the best ...but every now and then some where comes close.....

This is one of those wonderful places....For me the pancakes and their fillings are sublime... very tasty.

They are fresh and all the toppings are fantastic... I have been working here for a few months and I have taken a few of my dutch friends who have all agreed these are some great pancakes ... so my advice ...get yourself there as soon as you can... it is well worth a visit.

I'm not looking forward to leaving so I have given myself a quota of 1 pancake a week but could very easily eat them every day!!!

We visited Amsterdam in January 2009 and discovered this wonderful breakfast spot near the Rijksmuseum. We were charmed by the authentic carousel structure that has been converted into a cozy restaurant - everything but the wooden horses are in place. But the real thrill was discovering the heavenly poffertjies......they redefined our ideal of the perfect breakfast. You will fall in love with these melt-in-your-mouth pancakes and the ambiance of De Carrousel too!
