Steakhouse Piet de Leeuw
your comments review this restaurant
We have just visited Amsterdam again and had yet another evening meal here. Having booked a table, it was reserved for us. It is advisable to book for an early meal, before 7.00 pm, because the steakhouse quickly fills up after then. My wife began with tomato soup. We both agreed that it reminded us of Austria, with its typically continental flavours, and it was almost a meal in itself. My starter was herrings on toast, the fish treated in the typical dutch way. Very good. For mains, we had the house steak with stroganoff sauce, with real chips and salad. I keep promising myself to have the fish but cannot resist the excellent steak, cooked to perfection and so tender.
We enjoy the local atmosphere here and welcome the opportunty to share with the dutch community. It's different. It's not a tourist honeypot and all the better for that.
Remember to reserve in advance, in person if possible, to eat early and enjoy.
