Toko Betawi

Toko Betawi is one of the best Indonesian restaurants I've ever been to in Amsterdam - and I've lived here all my life...! The food is always freshly cooked, the flavours are simply devine. The restaurant is family-run (all lovely people!) and they have refurbished the restaurant a few months ago. The interior is really nice and full of indonesian artwork, plants, traditional wood carvings, etc. I think their speciality is the "Nasi Koening Rames Speciaal" - coconut rice like you've never tasted before, combined with green beans in a spicy sauce, rendang with perfectly cooked beef (not too soft, not too dry), cauliflower pickle and tempeh that just makes your mouth water... Shame the area isn't that great (Bos en Lommer), but they are working on that! A definite recommendation to take a loved one - perfect atmosphere, perfect food!
