I stayed in a lovely apartment above this restaurant. I was in Amsterdam for 3 wekes so visited De Spaanse Ruiter on a regular basis.
The food is plentiful and delicious. They offer a wide variety of drinks and excellent (Dutch) service, which means casual and relaxed.
The people who work there are fun and extremely nice. I will always eat at De Spaanse Ruiter while in Amsterdam.
Highly recommended for a true Dutch experience. The apartment (La Vie en Rose) was lovely as well.
