La Piccola Trattoria

I was in Amsterdam on a return visit in September and staying in Nieuwzijds Voorburgwal. On our second night we chanced upon this lovely little Trattoria (at 346) run by two Italian brothers. I would encourage anyone reading this to give them a try. Their enthusiasm and friendliness is matched by their food and cooking. We went back the following night and found out that they take it in turns to be 'front of house' and 'chef'. Well done to them for being able to take on both roles. Their pasta, pizzas and salads are all top quality. For 12 euros you can have an excellent pizza, salad, glass of wine and a coffee. I don't often give restaurants top marks but these two young men deserve them. If we had been in Amsterdam longer we would have gone back again and sampled more of their dishes - but that will have to wait for our return.
