We had Saturday lunch there; they cordon off about half the restaurant and don't have a menu, they just tell you what they have that day.

We had a great salad caprese (mozzarela and tomato), I had spaghetti with a spicy tomato sauce and my partner had sea bass and fennel.

Really wonderful food, service informal and friendly.

This was the best Italian food I'd had in a while, and as my parents lived in Italy and my childhood holidays were always there, that says something. The beauty of Italian food is its simplicity, flavour and freshness, and this ticked all the boxes.

Our experience at Caprese was less than we expected. we were warned by local hotel staff not to expect much because the quality of the food varied.

We found the portion adequate and the service although a little slow was friendly. There was one other couple in the restaurant and we waited forever for the check. We thought they forgot us.

Now the food although adequate was tasteless.

We wonder if the cook was ever introduced to GARLIC...a staple in Italian cuisine at least were we come from. and there are enough Italians and restaurants here in Chicago for us to make a comparison.

I would suggest the Chef spend some time looking at the food channel on the web and steal some recipes or he ain't gonna be in the Italian restaurant long. good luck .. there are several good chefs that offer recipes free. Giada Delorentas, Alton Brown, several others. take a hint pal...or plan a trip to Chicago and eat in a few.

This accessible Italian restaurant serves antipasti, authentic pastas and scrumptious secondi piatti prepared with fresh ingredients. All the meat is organic, the mozzarella is from the buffalo and the espresso ranks among the best in Amsterdam. Try Michael’s amatriciana or Roberto’s homemade ravioli and don’t miss Carla’s ristretto. Genuine smiles, enjoyable music and authentic food make this Trattoria an original Italian oasis in Amsterdam. Highly recommended!
